A List of Cages by Robin Roe

This MASL Gateway Award Nominee really grabbed on to my emotions and threw them around a bit.  I cover of A List of Cagesdefinitely don’t want to spoil the plot, but, in a nutshell, this book is about friendship and trying to do the right thing, even if you’re not always successful.  Julian is a shy freshman who has had a tough life. His parents died when he was little, he spent some time in foster care, and is now living with an uncle. Adam is a senior, was Julian’s foster brother for awhile, and is a Labrador puppy in person-form.  As Julian begins to come out of his shell, you begin to realize some of the reasons why he was in that shell in the first place.

This book made me feel all of the feels.  I know that there were at least three points in my reading that I had to put the book down because it was hurting my heart.  If you liked the book (or movie) Room, you would like this novel, too.
